Those factors are the noise issues that affect the cooling fan

Cooling fans are classified according to their bearings. They are mainly oil-impregnated bearings and double-ball bearings. However, it seems that oil-impregnated cooling fans are more prone to noise problems. Why?

The material of oilimpregnated bearings is poor, the process is rough, and the precision is poor. This is the reason that the oil-impregnated bearing type cooling fan is prone to produce noise for a long time. The sound is very good at the beginning because there is lubricating grease between the bearing and the shaft core, which slows down The direct friction between the shaft core and the bearing is eliminated. But as time goes by, the lubricating oil will dry out, and when it is gone, the sound will become louder and louder.

The precision of the double ball bearing is very high. It is made of steel. From the beginning, what kind of sound will be the same after one or two years. This is also a product that has been used for a long time and has high requirements for noise. The reason for the double ball bearing fan instead of the oil-bearing cooling fan.

The noise problem of the cooling fan is a relatively common problem. Some are the quality of the cooling fan itself, and some are the installation problems of the cooling fan. Therefore, the correct installation of the cooling fan is also very important.

1. The installation method of clamping the frame of the cooling fan up and down is easy to produce resonance and amplify the sound due to the vibration of the cooling fan when it is running. It is impossible for the cooling fan to run at high speed without vibration.

2. Adopting the upside-down method, the fan blades face down, and the heat is absorbed from bottom to top. The oil containing cooling fan may exceed the height of the outer frame due to the gravity of the fan blade itself, and hit the heat sink below. Noise (change to double ball bearings can be a good solution).

3. Incorrect installation of the lock screw, the first screw is too strong and the lock is tight, and the parallel second screw is also locked very tight, and then lock the two screws on the opposite side, which will cause the outer frame of the fan to deform. Distorted, the fan blade may hit the outer frame wall and produce a scratching sound. The correct thing is to lock the first screw down and tighten it. Don’t lock it out of shape, lock the diagonal screws when finished, and lock the other set of diagonal screws when finished.
